TAGAYUN PUBLISHING is to produce books and pamphlets that would be highly useful to architects, engineers, contractors, developers and allied professionals in the construction industry. Towards that end, this company has published two books, namely:

about the author and publisher: VICENTE A.TAGYUN,PIA

The Author-Publisher studied at the College of Architecture and Fine Arts, University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines.  While studying, one of his professors, Architect Eusebio Abella, Jr., FUAP, invited him work in his architecture-consulting firm. Incidentally, Prof Eusebio Abella, Jr., is recognized as an outstanding architect by the United Architects of the Philippines by electing him as member of its College of Fellows. He was also a columnist in the Home Building Section of the Sunday Times Magazine and occupied various high positions in the UAP. Working closely with this kindly, highly creative and versatile mentor, the author learned so much valuable lessons which greatly helped him later in his own planning, designing, construction, estimating and supervision works.

While he was still young, the Author already had an inclination to draw and nursed the ambition to be a cartoonist and caricaturist. When he was selected Associate Editor of his high school student official organ - The Cagayan High School Students’ Chronicle - in Tuguegarao ,where he studied. He also did the necessary artworks for that school paper. To polish his art, he took up a home study course in Cartooning, Caricaturing and Commercial Art, conducted by a famous cartoonist-artist based in the USA. The course was truly effective because even while studying the fine points of cartooning, his cartoons he submitted to a student magazine in Manila were already accepted for publication.

After passing a government examination, he transferred to the premier statistical agency of the government where he served for several years. He was once chosen as Model Employee of the Year in recognition of his exemplary service and for possessing the desirable traits of an ideal government worker. He had been awarded Certificates of Commendations by the UN Economic Commission For Asia and the Far East and the FAO Far East Commission for his valuable role in planning and designing the venues of their international statistical conferences in Manila years back.

The Author was consultant in the joint Development Academy of the Philippines-National Census and Statistics Office (now National Statistics Office) Geographic Base Files (GEOCODING) Project. He is a proficient cartoonist and caricaturist who used to illustrate for the official organs of the NSO office and other government agencies, as well as private technical publications. He also provides technical support services to architects, engineers and contractors like: planning and designing construction projects, preparing bill of materials, specifications, computerized designing and drafting and structural design computation.

Drawing from his training and experience in technical report writing, statistical computation, analysis and interpretation of complex census and survey data in the government’s premier statistical agency ; and his many years of collaborative work with professionals in the construction industry, the Author has developed systems and procedures for accurately calculating the different materials required in construction projects - which he so effectively presents in these  books – ESTIMATING BILL OF MATERIALS, and BUILDING DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION.
